PRESENTATION


Issues of Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID) have gained importance for governments, communities and citizens. MILID WEEK is a space to promote contact and cooperation between international organizations, associations, NGOs, universities, media, research groups, researchers, teachers, and students from around the world working in media literacy and information and intercultural dialogue.


 This congress, entitled Empowerment  of Democracy through Literacy and Digital Media and Intercultural Dialogue, will focus on the following topics:
  • Media and  Empowerment  of Democracy  in the Arab World Media in conflicts and peace building.
  • Building new democracies: Social Media and public sphere.
  • Empowering teachers and learners.
  • Media policy and cultural diversity.
  • Media discourse and critical thinking.
  • Sharing creativity: cooperation and participation on the net
MILID DEBATES: It hosts forums for discussion on the present and the future of Milid.

 MILID RESEARCH CONGRESS: it welcomes the submission of projects and research projects on Milid. This space is open for all registered attendees. 

 MILID PARTNERS MEETING: UNITWIN Cooperation Programme on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue  Annual Meeting. This meeting is restricted to the UNITWIN network members (april 21st, 22nd, 2013).

 MAIN GOALS: 
  • To raise awareness and To spread throughout the world the main initiatives on media and information literacy and intercultural dialogue. 
  • To promote cooperation and partnership among key players in MILID. 
  • To undertake new initiatives of international scope.  
  • Toe development of new ideas and strategies about MILID. 

Who promotes and organizes MILID WEEK? 

 MILID WEEK is promoted UNITWINCooperation Programme on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (UNESCO - United Nations Alliance of Civilizations), which integrates eight universities from all continents.

 MILID WEEK of 2013 is organized by Cairo University in collaboration with the Communication and Education Gabinet of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain) and  MENTOR (International Association on Media Education).

Experts, practitioners, researchers, theorists and teachers from the eight universities that are part of the UNITWIN Cooperation Programme on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue.
